Indian National Center for Space Promotion and Authorization (IN-SPACe) 

The Indian National Center for Space Promotion and Authorization (IN-SPACe) was inaugurated  in Ahmedabad by Prime Minister Narendra ModiAmit Shah, the Union Home Minister, was also present at the ceremony.

IN-SPACe will be a facilitator and regulator for the Private Space agencies and ISRO.

The main roles and responsibilities of Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre are as-

IN-SPACe: It will act as a single-point interface between Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and everyone who wants to participate in space-related activities, or use India’s space resources.

-It is established as a single-window nodal agency, which will have a cadre of its own

-Private space agencies and parties will be allowed to use ISRO governed and managed equipment and use the space which is controlled by the Indian Space Organisation.

-In 2019, the Union Government approved the formation of New Space India Limited (NSIL). –In 2020 IN-SPACe, was set up by the Union Government . 

The three organisations, be it, ISRO, NSIL or IN-SPACe will be working for promoting the Indian space program

                                                        About NSIL?

NSIL is a Central Public Sector Enterprise of the Government of India.

It  is under the administrative control of the Department of Space.

  • Headquarter: Bengaluru
  • NSIL is the commercial arm of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) with the primary responsibility of enabling Indian industries to take up high technology space related activities and is also responsible for promotion and commercial exploitation of the products and services emanating from the space industry.
  • NSIL is incorporated to carry forward the industry production of space systems and the ISRO’s efforts in realising Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles (PSLV) from industry.
  • NSIL differs from ISRO’s existing commercial arm Antrix Corporation:

Antrix will handle ISRO’s commercial deals for satellites and launch vehicles with foreign customers.

NSIL will deal with capacity building of local industry for space manufacturing.

  • ISRO will be the main body for all the missions
  • IN-SPACe will bring in a balance and act as a channel between the private and government space sector
  • New Space India Limited (NSIL) will work as a marketing arm for the Indian Space Organisation
