M.P. in the Ancient time

The Aryan arrived in M.P. during ……..Maharishi August. M.P. is one of the ancient most part of the country . It is even older than Himalaya . It   is a part of Gondwana. Being the ancient most part, it’s history is  very old. In M.P. there are Pre historic sites like caves of Bhimbetika ,sites of Indus-valley civilization along the bank of river Narmada , Chambal & Betwa. Special features can be seen at Navdatoli at the bank of river Narmada at Maheshwar.

A group of Yadavs arrived and settled in M.P. the renowned ruler of Chitrakoot….MujhkundMandhata of Ikshavku dynasty settled in  the town Mandhata at the bank of river which was later renamed as …...Maheshwar by Ahilya Bai Holkar.The son of ShatrughanShatrughati   ruled over Vidisha with capital  as Kushavati.

During …..Mahajanapada era in 5c B.C. there were two Mahajanpads Avanti & Chedi in MP. The capital of Chedi Dynasty was shukla or Shuklmati.

There were….. two capitals of Avanti. The capital of northern portion was Ujjain. It was ruled by king Chand Praddoyat who was a cruel ruler. That is why in Buddhist scripture he was  given the name Chand. Later on when he …adopted  Buddhism . He became a liberal ruler.

The king ………..Chand had a bitter battle with ruler of ……….Magadh Bimbsar. This battle was a tie. But Chand was struck with incurable jaundice which was cured by ………..Jivak the royal physician of.. Bimbsar.

 His daughter was …Vasavdutta who had a love affair  with  ruler of KaushambiUddayan. This love story is described by  MahakaviBhas in his book …..Swapnavasavdutta.
